Who’s in the stories?

These stories are based around a group of friends who get up to stuff together.  Sometimes they play football.  Sometimes they don’t.  In previous chapters, they’ve dressed up, played football, beaten bullies, met a mad guitarist, got caught in a storm, and even battled Robin Hood!  Read more here to see what they are currently up to…

The main characters are:

Freeman

Calm, captain of the team.  Leader of the group.  Stays cool under all circumstances.

Will

Freeman’s younger brother.  More excitable.  More lively.  Impatient.  Good footballer – fast and skilful.

Michael

Good friend to Will and Freeman.  Turned up in chapter 1 to show them his amazing skills with a football.  The player they all want to be like.

Clara

Grand-daughter of Mr Azalea.  Fun and furious.  Dynamic and determined.  Plays football too.  Read about her inquisition of the boys in chapter 8.

Hardy

Slightly older.  Best mates with Will and Freeman.  Lives with his Mum and Dad in a big house the ‘posh’ side of the park.  In chapter 10, introduces them to his crazy cousin Jimi.

Jimi

Turned up in chapter 10, sitting on a guitar case outside Hardy’s house.  Turns out to be the coolest 10-year-old on the planet!  Plays great guitar, and starts the band.

Josiane

Will’s French friend.  Occasionally plays in goal.

Alec

Man of mystery.  In chapter 1, he appears by creeping into Jaz’s party through the window.  Introduces Freeman to his amazing house (chapter 5).

Jaz

The brains of the operation.  Computer-crazy, Jaz also plays well, and interests the others in his mad scientific schemes.  In chapter 6 he tries to show Hardy the structure of snowflakes…

Mr Azalea

He wheezed into their lives on day 1, and has been there ever since, encouraging, cajoling, and generally being eccentric.  A huge influence on them all.
