Chapter 13 - Carry on Camping
In Chapter 13, they get together once more to prepare for an important match.  But what is that strange sound?  And are they really planning a camping trip...?  Yes indeed, and they do play a match, and they do go camping.  And they do camp at a place called Nightmare Lake!  Don't worry, it turns out OK in the end!
Chapter 12 - Get Healthy!
The guys are preparing for Sports Day, and Clara (of all people) is trying to get them fit.  Hardy is moaning as usual as he is made to stretch and sprint.  Barry, meanwhile, is encouraging the others with the band idea, and his drumming is fantastic to see and to hear.  Jimi and Hardy find what they need in HQ to make another instrument, and Hardy starts playing.  Jimi says ‘Yo!’ as usual.  As they break up for the school holidays, Freeman feels himself…slipping…sliding…away…!
Chapter 11 - The Big Idea
Amazed at Jimi’s abilities on the guitar, and his all-round general coolness, they spend time at HQ practicing.  As they get the building looking how they want it, they are faced with a nasty shock when they head down there…not only has someone else been working there…they discover that the person who has been there, is only…the notorious…
Chapter 10 - Save the Planet!
The guys gather to celebrate World Environment Day in the woods.  But Freeman is more interested in Hardy, who is rhythmically tapping on a piece of log.  Then, they go for a sleepover and to listen to the England match against Estonia.  They all have different crazy dreams, with Will dreaming of being a racing driver.  Finally, they head over towards Hardy’s house, for their first meeting with the incredible Jimi.  Hardy is not impressed…
Chapter 9 - Athens Adventure
Freeman has his big idea, which becomes bigger as they make their way down the long garden of Hardy’s house to follow the strange banging noises coming from down there.  Eventually they find Hardy building something at the bottom of the garden.  That’s the good news.  The bad news is that the weather is closing in and the clouds are getting darker, and they are going to have to shelter in there whilst the storm passes.  The shed is full of secrets and shadows.  Scary!
Chapter 8 - Semi-Finals Week
The week of the Champions League semis starts very badly for Will when the notorious Barry is invited round for tea.  However, with some help, Will manages to overcome the bully Barry’s worst intentions.  They prepare for their vital league game, and relax after the game at Hardy’s house, but…oh no…the TV goes wrong just as they are watching a reply (on Match of the Day!) of their own match…
Chapter 7 - Spring Holidays
They go for a sleepover at Hardy’s place, and far from the normal sleeping bags and a movie, they end up sleeping half way up a tree.  Will falls whilst trying to climb, and is only saved because there is a … there to catch him.  After the sleepover one of the team finds out that his precious Shootout cards are missing, so Freeman conducts an investigation…
Chapter 6 - Champions League Challengers
The team dream of going to the Champions League Final in Athens.  It is Red Nose Day, although they are not allowed to do anything fun - due to an unfortunate incident the previous year.  Freeman pays a visit to Alex's house...will he find out any more about their mysterious midfielder?
Chapter 5 - When Illness Strikes
Radio Springhurst are reporting on the KidzUnited game against Butterfield.  The key match of the season so far.  Well, reporter Ron is reporting, reporter Brian just seems to be getting in the way.  The game ends up with a confused Brian and a draw – one-all. They recall what they did over half-term.  Will tells the story of going in Auntie Annie’s Rolls Royce and attending a party.  At the end of the party they get introduced to one of the guests, who turns out to be Theo Walcott, who gives Will and Freeman a pennant from his Club.  But Day three brings very bad news.  There is illness in the Kidz camp, and Hardy is the illest of all.  There is much coughing, sneezing and clearing of throats.  Will gets pounced on by his mother who rubs stuff all over his chest and makes him laugh.  Mr Azalea (who is also ill) suggests they go out for a bit of training – to get some fresh air. Over the weekend, they play their next match against Hurst Rovers.  Hardy, to demonstrate how ill he is, wears about ten layers of clothing and looks like a big blob in goal.  Michael scores two goals and Freeman lashes one in from distance.  One of the Hurst supporters starts to get upset at the performance of his team, and Mr Azalea has to go over and keep the peace. They prepare for World Book Day at school.  They are each required to go as a character from a book, but they are absolutely not allowed to go as footballers.  Michael ends up going as Roy of the Rovers (who was in a book) anyway. Finally, on Day 6, they listen to the radio which is doing a countdown of the top 10 childrens’ books of all time.  All the classics are in there – Dickens, Tolkein, Rowling, but the winner, the number one book that every child wants to read…Premier League Shootout cards!
Chapter 4 - Cold, Wet, and Happy
KidzUnited win two more games, with goals from Alex and Michael in the first one, and four (yes, four!) from Will in the second. But the weather is turning really cold.  Really really cold.  Will wakes up one morning, struck by the quiet all around, and the slightly eerie light coming through his bedroom window.  As he struggles to wake up,  he realises that there is a covering of snow on the street below. After school, they play outside in the snow-covered neighbourhood.  Down the road they notice Hardy running in and out of Jaz’s house.  He is apparently trying to collect snowflakes so that Jaz can look at them under his microscope.  Eventually they all get to see the beauty of a fresh snowflake under the viewfinder. They analyse the results of their first season so far, and Will and Jaz end up in the library searching for more information on their ultimate prize.  The winners of the Springhurst league will be invited to the Champions League final in Athens.  Jaz overcomes the attention of a busy librarian and finds out about the location of the final, and how to get there. They compare themselves to famous footballers – Thierry Henry, Robbie Savage, Theo Walcott, and others.  Will starts planning for the half-term break. Hardy, meanwhile is miserable, following an accident where he fell off his new heelies and smacked into a lamp-post. Jaz’s Mum points out to Will that Valentine’s Day is coming.  Someone suggests he should send a card to his good friend Josiane…! Finally, and against all expectations, there is more snow.  Much more.  This is the real thing and school is cancelled for the day.  Mr Azalea takes them on a training session in the snow.  They get ready for half-term.
Chapter 3 - New Year Blues
The boys spend time discussing their New Year’s resolutions, whilst remembering back to their disastrous ‘friendly’ match on Boxing Day, when several players had got injured, one of the Dads had been sent of the pitch by Mr Azalea, and one of the most important players had announced his retirement. Freeman and Will study the retirement note, and make up their minds that they must do something about the situation.  Mr Azalea assures them that the player will return. Will, Freeman, Clara and Hardy go up to the field for a practice kickabout.  At the end of their game, Hardy’s Dad walks over, looking very threatening, and Michael is spotted at the side of the pitch, looking very unthreatening.  Mr Hardy reminds them that they are playing the Merrymen at the weekend. Will and Hardy check their email and find messages from Jaz, Mr Azalea (actually they find 7 messages from him, most of them sent by mistake), and from their opposition team for the Saturday match, requesting a change of time and place for the match.  They agree to the change. They meet on Saturday evening at seven p.m., ready for the match, which takes place deep in a forest.  Josiane plays in goal, to balance the team in the absence of Michael. Freeman introduces himself to the opposition – Robin, John, Much, and their friends.  The game starts, and KidzUnited win it by two goals to one.  Towards the end of the game, Hardy goes to retrieve the ball and is confronted by a man on a horse, who challenges the combined team of Robin’s group and Kidzunited to a match.  The Sheriff and his colleagues lose the game. Finally, Freeman and Jaz are looking back at the season so far – two wins and one defeat.  Not bad really.  They hear that the prize for winning the league is tickets to the Champions League final.  Freeman drifts off into a dream about football – on another planet.
Chapter 2 - Let the Games Begin
KidzUnited play their first match, inspired by Premiership highlights on Match of the Day, play their first every competitive match.  Despite efforts of the amazingly talented Michael, they lose the game when he gets injured close to half time.  Josiane, taking over in goal, can do nothing to prevent them going down to a 2-1 defeat. Mr Azalea reminds the team that they played well, and Will, Freeman and Hardy go home to play with the shootout cards.  Hardy organises about ten swaps in thirty seconds, and they all fall about laughing.  Mr Azalea decides they have to train in the dark. Jaz tries to find out why they need a luminous ball for their training session, and they go off to the park.    After the session, Mr Azalea reminds them that they have a hard game against the mysterious girls of Hags United this weekend. They play well in the first half against the Hags United team, but after a mysterious change of referee their fortunes change and they start letting in goals.  But they hang on, and proudly record their first league victory. Hardy and Clara celebrate by going out shopping with Hardy's mother, who reminds him of his embarassing full name.  They end up at the school carol concert, but Hardy gets distracted and gets into trouble. Finally, in the week before Christmas, Freeman and Will prepare for a party, by wrapping up all the presents for their friends.  Whilst they are sure Hardy will like his, they are also sure that Clara will not like hers.  Finally, they relax under the Christmas tree listening to the ticking sound coming from a present sent by their Auntie Annie. Happy Holidays!
Chapter 1 - Getting the Team Together
Brothers Freeman and Will, inspired by an angry teenager, decide to set up a football team to play in the local leagues near their town of Springhurst. With their friend Hardy, they have three for the team.  But they have to look for more. They visit the home of the mysterious, game playing Jaz, who amazes them with his ability to volley a ball of paper across the room.  They send out some leaflets to try to attract players in their road.  The elderly Mr Azalea tells them of his medical problems, but recommends his grand-daughter Clara as a player. Mr Azalea turns up thinking he might also play in the team, until the first training session when he stretches a little too far, and ends up injured. But the first training session is dominated by the remarkable Michael and his amazing football skills.  They watch him for hours – step-overs, dribbles, shots with either foot. They go to a party where Alex turns up by climbing through a window high in the corner of the sports hall where the party is held.  Alex swings down dramatically from the roof and gives Jaz his present.  They all gasp.  Mr Azalea makes sure that Alex can play for their team. Will’s French friend Josiane comes to watch them training.  Will gets worried when she asks if she can join the team. Will gets even more worried when he realises she is actually serious. Mr A and Freeman go to a meeting in Mr A’s old car.  At the meeting are several teams, including a mysterious group of ladies dressed in black.  Freeman half-recognises some of them – and worries again. Will and Josiane choose the kit.  They all choose a name for the team. They wait for their first match!
